Nowadays, parents and educators are concerned about their child’s future. They want their child to receive an all-round development which will help him in the long run. The world and its needs have changed. A toddler today has to stand tall in future as a global citizen. An overall development, away from bookish knowledge and exam oriented syllabus and activities is the ongoing demand. Awareness and participation in general knowledge, co-curricular activities, sports, computer know-how, external reading and socializing along with the books will aid creation of an integrated student.

Attributes of an integrated student are:

  • Self-awareness: Knowing what one is feeling and thinking and having a realistic assessment of one’s own abilities and a well-grounded sense of self-confidence.
  • Social awareness: Understanding what others are feeling and thinking and appreciating and interacting positively with diverse groups.
  • Self-management: Handling one’s emotions so they facilitate rather than interfere with task achievement and setting and accomplishing goals, persevering in the face of setbacks and frustrations.
  • Relationship skills: Establishing and maintaining healthy and rewarding relationships based on clear communication, cooperation, resistance to inappropriate social pressure, negotiating solutions to conflict, and seeking help when needed.
  • Responsible decision making: Making choices based on an accurate consideration of all relevant factors and the likely consequences of alternative courses of action, respecting others, and taking responsibility for one’s decisions.

Schools which follows a holistic development believe and follow the system where they incorporate development of social, psychological, cognitive, conative intelligence, kinaesthetic-physical, spiritual, interpersonal and moral intelligence.
