Once again it’s the girls who have come out on top of the boys in the recently declared CBSE Class X Results 2016 . The pass percentage has though showed a slight dip from 97.32 % last year to 97.21% , however the net number of students scoring a CGPA 10 has increased to 1,68,000. Meanwhile, the girls, though marginally above the boys in pass % , 96.36% compared to the 96.11% , have fared poorly in comparison to the number of boys, which is 85,316, crossing the CGPA 10 mark compared to the 83,225 girls who achieved the same feat. Similar to the class XII Board exams, once again Thiruvananthapuram, with a pass % of 99.87% has become the region topper, followed by Chennai (99.69%). The quota for physical handicapped students also saw a steep increase in the pass % with 95.81% success rate.
However, the point of bother, amidst all such wonderful feats is the fact that government schools are lagging behind in the race. Amongst the Central school, only Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas(JNV’s) and Kendriya Vidyalayas(KV’s) have shown successful results. The private schools have fared very well in West Bengal. For instance, DPS Ruby Park has had a phenomenal record of 104 students getting CGPA 10 and 265 students getting CGPA 9 and above out of 489 students.
