Sangeeta Jha, an IT professional had to quit her job since she was unable to cope with the guilt of having to keep her seven-year old son in her car for more than an hour every evening while she finished her work in office. But Sangeeta is not alone; most working couples in the city tend to miss good day care facilities for their kids and have to depend on private crèches. Parents prefer crèches that offer the right kind of food, secured environment and meaningful activities so that their kids can remain engaged and stay happy.

According to the management, 90% of the 30 kids who stays at the day care centre are children of IT employees. Mongrace offers a large play area, a computer lab along with healthy food and several activity classes; all for 5,700/- a month. Parents say that they are satisfied with the crèche and the teachers here too uses swipe cards to get in and out.

Bubble Blue
Bubble Blue day care has tie-ups with several IT firms in Rajarhat and Sector V, Salt Lake. The crèche remains open till 8 in the evening to help parents working on late shifts. The crèche has tie ups with IT companies like IBM, TCS, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra and Capgemini. Fee packages ranges from 16,000 to 23,000 annually depending on the age and the time spent by the child. The demand has risen so high recently that they had to try and search for bigger facilities.

Muskaan
Tata Steel has brought smiles to several women employees and children by launching their in-house crèche “Muskaan”. Muskaan provides a bright and happy play area with toys and colourful slides; seesaws and walls with animal motifs; two adjacent rooms where children can eat and rest. It is set up on the ground floor of Tata Centre of Jawaharlal Nehru Road. Parents can keep their children at 3,200/- a month from 9am to 7pm on weekdays and till 3pm on Saturdays.

With the rise in such facilities, parents can both provide their children with the right care and facilities and can even continue their working career.
