At the end of the last day of pre-admission online registration for admission to first year degree colleges affiliated to Mumbai University, over 2.5 lakh students made a total of 7.7 lakh applications. Several colleges witnessed huge rush of students submitting forms until the last minute. The online admission process commenced on 28th May and was scheduled to end on 11th June; but colleges had to extend the deadline to 15th of June.
Mumbai has faced a tight race for best colleges and courses as over 1.8 lakh students had registered for 1.6 lakh seats available online for the upcoming academic year. This year’s high scoring performance had made it difficult for colleges to allot seats for students. The cut-off percentages had also increased due to the rise in marks this year.
