To ease the process of applying online for the Common Entrance Test (CET) 2016, the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has asked the CBSE and ICSE boards to create a database for its Class XII students. This year, the Department of Pre-University Education (DPE) had created a database, by collecting basic details, including the name of the individual, college and address of every II year PUC student. Each student was allotted a 13-digit student-number. The move helped save time while submitting online applications.

Around 1.5 lakh students appear for CET of which around 10,000 to 20,000 students are CBSE and ICSE students. These two boards are also said to consider creating student-numbers from the next academic session.
