Swarnim International School opened its doors for the pre-school kids on April 14. Some of the rules that were stuck on the walls of this school were… “We are nice to others”, “We help keep classrooms clean”, “We play safely”, “We listen to our teachers”etc. In the Sonarpur Campus, The section for the preschool alone is spread across 8,000sqfeet. Till the amenities -sand pit and splash pool come up, the colourful classes, a well-stocked activity room keep the children busy. The total amount of knowledge time at present is (8:30-11:30 am) for the playgroup, nursery, upper and lower kindergarten students taught by five teachers undereight CCTV cameras to watch them at every step.
Swarnim is its founder-chairman, H.P. Budhia’s (Patton Group of Industries) brain child who aims to provide its children holistic education in a healthy and inclusive environment.
Rumjhumi Biswas, the headmistress of the school said, “Here learning will take place and not merely bookish exchange of information. We don’t offer cold classrooms but a fun environment for our kids.”
Innovative names have been given to the ‘fun rooms’ for the preschool kids – Little Learners for kids aged 2-3years, Dynamic Discoverers for kids aged 3-4years and Excited Explores for kids aged 4-5years. To accomplish the promise of the school to keep the children engaged, each class is well-stacked with books, illustrations, toys and study material. Swati Sarawagi, the Resident director feels that the purpose of real education today is to prepare kids for the real world. Acquiring knowledge is away just by a mouse click. The priority here is the smart application of knowledge.
Swarnim, from teaching through fun activities in junior class hopes to build a modern learning environment for the senior school too, that is on its way to come up over the 3 acers of land right opposite to the primary building. Right from its single step from the preschool, This International School has miles to go. “Slowly, we will get ready for high school and CBSE affiliation,” said Biswas, the headmistress.
“Residential from the new housing estates here should not have to travel too far for quality education.” said Biswas. The school’s plan is to offer quality education to all those living in and around Narendrapur and Sonarpur.
