BiBOX (Brain-in-a-box) is a city-based start-up, which was incorporated in 2012, conducts workshops in different city schools which helps students transform their ideas to build smart machines, robots and other real-world gadgets, thus making science creative and interesting.
A group of Class VIII girls made a smart cradle which rocks the baby automatically and rises an alarm only when the baby wets the cradle. A Class VII girl made a pair of goggles with a wiper when she faced problems riding her bicycle in the heavy rain. The goggles keeps the water from falling into her eyes. A Class VIII boy made an automated cloth stand which pulls down the clothes to a covered area so that they do not get wet when it rains.
The children from Class V to X need not wait till they take up science courses in colleges to experiment. The start-up has tied up 20 schools across Bengaluru and 24 across Kerala, Delhi and Coimbatore, training almost 10, 000 students. The idea behind this start-up is to help young children see their imagination in action. Brain-in-a-Box helps students to put their ideas (brain) into a product (box). It is all about creative thinking, and provides a tool to students, which they can use to build products using the concepts taught in classrooms.
The BiBOX innovation lab promises to help students find solutions with their capabilities, creativity and knowledge.
