On 26th December morning, the government high school in Saneguruvanahalli, Basaveshwaranagar III Stage, west Bengaluru, was abuzz with activity. With New Year around the corner, 50 students here are busy making greeting cards. A group of veterans -alumni of the government high school, Magadi Road are teaching them the nuances of card making and much more.

Many have plans to sell the cards made of waste paper and other materials both at home and school. The initiative was part of the `art of giving to art of crafting’ programme inspired by social entrepreneur Achyuta Samanta’s art of giving projects. Achyuta educates around 25,000 schoolchildren in Odisha.

Five former students of Magadi Road government high school, who completed Class X in 1984, interacted with the students of classes 8 and 9 and taught them craft work that can be done at home or school by using easily available materials.
