Many students of Class 12 have scored well in their exams against all odds. Here’s an inspiring from the CBSE Result 2016 (Class XII) of the student outperforming despite being from the weaker sections.
Anarrow lane and even narrower staircase leads the way to the room on the first floor of a colony in Shenoy Nagar where this student’s resident is. There’s a blue wall that separates the tiny kitchen from this room which serves as a hall, a bedroom, and most importantly a study place for Sanjana who was the third rank-holder in corporation schools securing 96.25% in the Class 12 board exams.
Her books are arranged well on one of the crammed shelves. Clothes hangrunning from across the sides of the same room. “My mother would leave home many times to let me study without distraction.” said Sanjana making her mother Geeta smile with pride.
A student from a corporation school on Pulla Avenue, Shenoy Na Avenue, Shenoy Nagar, Sanjana topped her school with 11551200. As a commerce student, Sanjana is extremely passionate about bank management wanting to set up her career in this sector. But the road to her dreams has many hindrances.
“I want to do BCom but the fee in private colleges is close to `30,000 to `40,000 per semester. My sister studied in a government college and she did not want me to do the same. But we can’t afford to pay so much. So I have applied for BCom corporate secretary ship in a private college which has a lower fee,” said Sanjana.
After Sanjana’s father died(11 years ago), her mother Geeta worked as a domestic help for many years. Her older daughter Monisha is now the only earning member in the family after Geeta stopped working because of her health issues.
“Amma has health problems. She can’t walk long distances and developed allergies on her hand from constant use of soap. I wanted to give her a break and joined a firm after my degree,” said Monisha who is a computer science graduate.
Despite such obstacles, Sanjana has a clear vision for her future. “Our mother took care of us despite problems, she gave us a good life and made sure we had good education. We want to give her something back.We want to give her the life she deserves,” said Sanjana.
