A state wide function was recently conducted under the banner ‘Mahila Sashastikaran’ (Women Empowerment) which attracted huge participation of women and children in the district. The fort-night long celebration that ended on 15th August was aimed to inform and educate women in various areas of health, cleanliness, education, hygiene, empowering girl child, laws protecting women right, etc. The program included seminars, workshops, camps, competitions, fairs and felicitation programmes to educate, motivate and create awareness among women on basic and social issues. The celebration started with ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ Diwas. To help women understand the equal importance of having a girl child, counselling was done by the experts along with presentations and explanations of several government schemes of supporting a girl child.
